Italian Design Day – VI Edition – 23th March 2022

The best of Italian design takes centre stage in 100 countries
with the theme Re-Generation – Design and new technologies for a sustainable future
With hundreds of events going on all over the world, the 6th edition of the Italian Design Day will take place on 23rd March. It was started in 2017 to promote the best in Italian furniture, architecture and design abroad. Against this backdrop, the diplomatic-consular network of Italian Cultural Institutes and ICE Offices throughout the world will organize exhibitions, presentations of objects and design projects, competitions and seminars which, in both presentational and hybrid format will involve some of the best known and most highly qualified Italian designers, architects, researchers, entrepreneurs and specialized journalists in highlighting the value of Italian creativity.
The theme for this year’s edition is Re-Generation. Design and new technologies for a sustainable future, which highlights one of the current challenges that design is facing: promoting a transition of lifestyles that combines functionality and well-being with sustainability and reduced environmental impact, re-generating, – in ideas and in practice – objects and spaces. Today, reusing, mending, renewing and recycling existing materials and products is a parallel need with the development of new ones: to achieve this goal, dialogue and collaboration between designers and those, whatever their role in the world of work and society, will be increasingly essential – from manufacturing companies to research and technological development centres – in carrying out projects and facilitating their creation. The goal is to conceive new products and new processes based on sustainable technologies based on the concept of circular economy.

The Italian Design Day 2022 has been promoted and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the contribution of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture within the context of the beIT and Vivere all’Italiana initiatives.
The ADI Compasso d’Oro Collection Foundation, ADI Association for Industrial Design, ITA ICE Italian Trade Agency, Triennale di Milano, Salone del Mobile Milano, FederlegnoArredo and Altagamma have all worked together in the general organization and communication.
