Requirements for a Schengen Invitation Visa

Schengen States: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

  1. Application form or (free of charge) available for collection from the Embassy;
  2. Two recent colour photograph (white background);
  3. Original passport (with a validity of at least three months after the expiry date of the requested Visa), together with copies of relevant pages including any previous Schengen, UK, Canadian or USA visas.
  4. Non-Sudanese citizens must hold a valid residence permit and exit/re-entry visa;
  5. Proof of valid means of travel (flight reservation for the whole period of stay in the Schengen area);
  6. Reference letter from employer (organization/institution , etc.) specifying the reason of the journey (If costs are covered by organization), applicant’s position, salary, beginning and duration of the contract of employment, Bank statement, with the cover letter, of the 12 months, etc.
  7. Invitation from Organizers in Italy (specifying charge of expenses), program of stay and/ or letter of confirmation of event (it MUST be sent by the Organizers  directly to the Embassy before your appointment).
  8. Hotel reservation (if not already included in invitation)
  9. Travel medical insurance (original and one copy) for all Schengen Countries with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency hospitalization and repatriation expenses.

IMPORTANT NOTES

–          The Italian Embassy will issue visas to travellers whose main destination is Italy;

–          The Visa office reserves the right to request additional documentation and/or a further interview with the applicant;

–          Applicants should submit all their documentation in English;

–          Presentation of all the requested documents does not necessarily guarantee issuance of a Visa;

–          Submission of counterfeit or falsified documents will result in refusal of entry into the Schengen Area; such papers will not be returned and may be sent to the relevant local Judicial Authorities;

–          Schengen Border Authorities are entitled to demand proof of requisites from all travellers  and may refuse entry to Visa holders.

 

FEES FOR A VISA TO ITALY must be paid cash in full at the time of application.
