As every year, August 8 is remembered the “Day of the Sacrifice of Italian Labor in the World”, established by Directive of the President of the Council of Ministers on December 1, 2001 to enhance and recognize the work and sacrifice of the many compatriots who emigrated abroad. This commemoration falls on the anniversary of the Marcinelle mining tragedy of 1956, in Belgium, where 262 miners, including 136 Italians, lost their lives in the Bois du Cazier mine.
On this occasion the Minister, in agreement with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, addressed a message to his compatriots abroad.
