On the occasion of the XVII Week of the Italian language in the World (16-22 October 2017), this year on the theme “Italian language and cinema”, Dante Alighieri Society promotes, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation and the Swiss Confederation, the film competition “As in a mirror – Italy seen out of Italy”.
The contest offers students of all nationalities aged 18 to 26 the opportunity to shoot a short movie highlighting different aspects (art, fashion, landscape, cuisine, language, history etc.) contributing to shape the image of Italy in the world.
Membership and participation are completely free of charge.
Movies of maximum 5 minutes must be sent by September 15, 2017 at the address concorsovideo@ladante.it, specifying in the subject of the message “Competition AS IN A MIRROR – Italy outside Italy” and in the body of the email name, surname, date of birth, phone number and link of the video product that will be uploaded either on Youtube or Vimeo.
In the headlines, the competition poster should appear; short movies in languages other than Italian will have to be provided with Italian subtitles.
The works will be judged by a jury composed of a representative of Dante Alighieri Society, a representative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign affairs and International Cooperation, a representative of the Italian Ministry of Culture, a member of the Swiss Embassy in Italy and a representative of Radio RAI3 (Hollywood Party broadcast).
The top three movies will be offered respectively a trip and stay in Rome to visit the Cinecitta studies; an Italian language or culture course in one of the four Dante schools in Italy; a series of thematic publications. The best movie from residents in Switzerland will also be able to access the a Special Prize, consisting on the possibility to screen the movie itself during the 2018 edition of Locarno Film Festival.
The names of the winners and the modalities for the award will be published on the web sites of “Dante” (www.ladante.it) and of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation www.esteri.it .Dante Alighieri Society and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation have the right to use and publish free of charge the works presented, with the only obligation to indicate the author’s name.
