  • “Leonardo Da Vinci” Library and Reading Room

The “Leonardo Da Vinci” Library and Reading Room was inaugurated and opened to the public on 28 Novermber 2013 as an area for the promotion of the Italian Language and Culture created at the Library of the University of Khartoum (previously Gen Gordon College, the oldest and most prestigious university in Sudan).

The “Leonardo da Vinci” consists of a library and a reading room, a classroom and a courtyard where to organize cultural events and screenings of movies or documentaries. It has been conceived and then realized by the Italian Embassy with the contribution of some Italian entrepreneurs and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs which provided part of the books and the equipment. Other contributions came from the Italian Istituto Luce which gave some audiovisual material and the Italian Community which is giving books and newspapers in Italian for the Library.

  • Italian Language Courses at the Comboni College of Science and Technology (CCST)

Since 2002, the Comboni College of Science and Technology offers courses in Italian language approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Sudan, in which currently (academic year 2019/2020) 58 students are enrolled. In 2012, this institution has started a university degree in English Language and Literature, which includes the Italian language as a compulsory subject for all students. The Comboni College of Science and Technology also has a language laboratory equipped with digital material for in-depth study of the Italian language.

  • Italian Language courses at the Comboni Italian Center (CIC)

The CIC is an Italian language and cultural center that provides courses of all levels according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) which consists of 6 levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. The CIC is open from Monday to Thursday (3pm - 7pm). Courses last 2 months and are usually twice a week, from 5pm to 7pm. This centre is also an accredited examination center for the CELI International Exam, issued by the University of Perugia for Foreigners, Italy.

Beyond language courses, the CIC offers cultural opportunities and experiences including film screenings, seminars and educational trips.
