Requirements for Study Visa

Schengen States: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

1. Duly completed application form (free of charge) available from the Embassy’s website or by collection through the Reception.
2. Two recent passport size colour photograph (white background).
3. Original passport (with a validity of at least three months after the expiry date of the requested Visa and a minimum of 2 blank pages), together with copies of relevant pages including any previous Schengen, UK, Canadian or USA visas.
4. Non-Sudanese citizens must hold a valid residence permit and exit/re-entry visa.
5. Proof of enrolment/registration at the University/School in Italy, specifying type and duration of the course.
6. University Degree, Study course transcripts and Declaration of Value issued and duly stamped by this Embassy’s Cultural Section;
7. Certification confirming knowledge of the English language issued by British Council ‘’IELTS Certificate’’ (minimum level B2) or Italian language (minimum level B2);
8. Proof of financial means (Minimum amount of EURO 6.079,45 per annum excluding tuition and registration fees and costs for accommodation) – CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED as proof of available funds -;
   a. Euro, USD, GBP, QAD, AED or SAR active bank account for a minimum of the past 12 months in the applicant’s name or his/her sponsor;
   b. If costs are covered by a sponsor, an Affidavit signed before a Notary or Commissioner for Oaths must be presented for residents in Sudan, duly legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For residents abroad sponsorship letter must be legalized by the relevant Italian Embassy or Consulate;
   c. Proof of family ties with the sponsor by means of birth certificate duly legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated in English if English version is not available;
   d. Credit card and relevant bank statement, with the cover letter, of account for previous 12 months;
   e. Letter from sponsor’s employer stating duration of employment and salary;
   f. Copy of the sponsor’s passport.
9. If the student works and covers all costs the requirements are:
   a. documents proving the applicant’s employment and position within the company (i.e. employer’s letterhead specifying the reason of the journey, applicant’s salary, position in the company, beginning and duration of the employment contract, Company’s Registration Certificate);
   b. documents proving the own business activities of the Company (i.e.; Company’s Registration Certificate, business licence, Chamber of Commerce Certificate and/or company’s profile, letterhead specifying salary, position in the company, shareolder etc);
10. Scholarship (if applicable);
11. Proof of valid means of travel (flight reservation)
12. Health insurance (original and one copy) for the duration of the course, on its term and on the forms of assistance covered, which should be not include limitations or exceptions to the tariffs established for urgent hospital admittance for the length of the cover;
13. Proof of available lodging in Italy including adequate funds to cover costs in addition to above: University/School accommodation, hotel or apartment booking, invitation letter (copy of which is available from the Visa Office) etc.

IMPORTANT NOTES
– The Italian Embassy will issue visas to travellers whose main destination is Italy;

– The Visa office reserves the right to request additional documentation and/or a further interview with the applicant;

– Applicants should submit all their documentation in English;

– Presentation of all the requested documents does not necessarily guarantee issuance of a Visa;

– Submission of counterfeit or falsified documents will result in refusal of entry into the Schengen Area; such papers will not be returned and may be sent to the relevant local Judicial Authorities;

– Schengen Border Authorities are entitled to demand proof of requisites from all travellers and may refuse entry to Visa holders.

FEES FOR A VISA TO ITALY must be paid cash in full at the time of application.
